Form / Technology

   Form / Technology
   Your choices are...

   Standard

Standards provide a highly accurate standard value of resistance, capacitance, inductance, voltage or other electrical parameter for calibration and testing.  Standards usually consist of a single, fixed value component or a several components not in the same circuit.  Some standards are available that are continuously variable, often incorporating a potentiometer.  Standards having more than one component (e.g., several fixed value resistors) have multiple posts or a rotary switch to select different resistance values.

   Decade Box / Substituter

Decade boxes, decades or decade substituters provide highly accurate and digitally variable standard values of resistance, capacitance, inductance or combinations of these electrical parameters for calibration and testing. Decade boxes usually consist of several components (e.g., resistors) within the same circuit. The standard resistance value is selected by varying of the number resistors in the series or parallel circuit.

Specifications

   Decades:

The number of decades available in the decade box.

Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
   Capacitance Range:

The capacitance range of the capacitor.  Fixed capacitors have only one value.  Variable capacitors should have a range of capacitance values. Capacitance is a measure of the energy storage ability of a capacitor, given as C = K A/D, where A is the area of the electrodes, D is their separation, and K is a function of the dielectric between the electrodes. The formula yields a result in farads (F), but a farad is so large that the most commonly used values are expressed in microfarads (µf = 10-6F) or picofarads (pf = 10-12F).

Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
   Capacitance Accuracy:

The accuracy or precision of the capacitance produced by the capacitor measured as a percent of the capacitance.

Search Logic:      All matching products will have a value less than or equal to the specified value.
   Capacitance Resolution (per Step):

Resolution is the digital value represented by one bit in the display in a digital measure.  For example, a decade box where one bit on the display represents 10 ohms as a resolution of 10 ohms (also farads/step or least significant digit <LSD>).

Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
   Operating / Input Voltage:

The maximum operating or input voltage of the component or instrument.

Search Logic:      All matching products will have a value greater than or equal to the specified value.
   Temperature Coefficient

The temperature coefficient parameter measures the rate at which the nominal resistance value changes as a function of temperature. It is expressed in parts-per million per degree Celsius (ppm/C).

Search Logic:      All matching products will have a value less than or equal to the specified value.
   Operating Temperature:

This is the full-required range of ambient operating temperature.

Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
   Stability:

The stability in terms of accuracy over a period of a year.

Search Logic:      All matching products will have a value less than or equal to the specified value.

   Your choices are...

   NIST / National Lab Traceable

Standard calibration that can be traced to the National Institute of Technology Standards (NIST) or other National Lab. The standard has been compared to a master standard that has been checked against a NIST standard.

   AC

Standard or decade is suitable for alternating current (AC) calibration or testing applications.

   DC

Standard or decade is suitable for alternating current (DC) calibration or testing applications.

   Component / OEM

Standard, source or decade suitable for use as a precision component in a larger system or product.

   Low Zero / Residual

Standard or decade has low values of zero, offset or residual impedance resistance, inductance or capacitance.

   Measurement / Calibrator

The instrument has the ability to perform precision measurements (measures or reads) for testing or calibration in addition to providing a standard reference value.

   Computer Interface / Programmable

The decade box, voltage divider or component has a computer interface option for programming, control or data acquisition.

   Variable (Continuously)

Standard or reference that can provide a precise and continuously variable value such as a variable capacitor or potentiometer.

   Rack Mount

Standard, decade box or divider is designed of suitable for rack mounting.  Rack mount units often options for rear and front outputs.

   Stand Alone / Bench

Standard, decade box or divider is packaged in a case with binding posts.

   Transfer / Laboratory

Transfer, primary or laboratory grade standards are used to compare or transfer the accuracies from NIST or national lab certified standards to working standards, sources, simulators and calibrators or for precision meter calibration.

   Working

Working standards are robust or rugged units for production or in-line testing and calibration.  Reference or working standards are compared or verified by transfer or laboratory standards and then used for calibration, testing and inspection of other components, meters and instruments.
